Church Picnic and Psalm Sing https://kilraughtsrpc.com/church-picnic-and-psalm-sing/ Wed, 08 Sep 2021 10:18:36 +0000 https://www.kilraughtsrpc.com/?p=1801 The weather held up well to allow our church picnic to go ahead outdoors after our morning service on 29th August. Tables and chairs were brought outside to the newly surfaced area at the back door of the church hall and some folk brought their own picnic chairs. Around 25 folk enjoyed their picnic food outdoors and chatting to each other. Sadly a few who would have been there were isolating because of positive Covid-19 test results, but it was good to have some extended family members visiting for worship and staying for the picnic.

After the eating was all done we gathered a little closer for a short time of psalm singing. We have been singing just one psalm at the end of our worship services, so it was good to be able to take time to sing to God’s praise with some psalms chosen by our precentor Jennifer Kennedy and others requested by those who had gathered.

Wedding of Rebecca Hanna and Philip Coulter https://kilraughtsrpc.com/wedding-of-rebecca-hanna-and-philip-coulter/ Mon, 06 Sep 2021 15:58:41 +0000 https://www.kilraughtsrpc.com/?p=1799 Wednesday 18th August, 2021 was the date for the happy event of the wedding of Rebecca Hanna and Philip Coulter. Rebecca’s father Richard walked his daughter up the aisle and then the wedding ceremony was conducted by Rev. David Fallows. The address was given by the groom’s father – Rev. Harry Coulter, a former minister in Kilraughts.

After signing the necessary documents, the bride and groom passed through a tunnel of wedding guests in the church car park and were showered in confetti as they made their way to the car that took them to the wedding reception at the Roe Park Resort near Limavady.

Following their honeymoon in the Lake District, Philip and Rebecca have now set up home in Carrickfergus and are worshipping with the Reformed Presbyterian Church there, where until very recently Philip’s father had been the minister. All in Kilraughts pray for God’s blessing upon them in their married life together.

Website Active Again https://kilraughtsrpc.com/website-active-again/ Thu, 29 Apr 2021 13:02:19 +0000 https://www.kilraughtsrpc.com/?p=1550 Apologies to anyone who has been trying to access recordings of the worship services on 25th April. Due to a computer hard drive crash, the facility to upload services to the website has been unavailable until now – 29th April. The morning and evening worship services have now been uploaded and are available in the sermons section of the website.

Hopefully the services due to be held on the 2nd of May will be uploaded to the website soon after the services conclude. CD recordings will be available for those who are not able to attend worship and do not have access to the website.

Plans for May 2021 https://kilraughtsrpc.com/plans-for-may-2021/ Tue, 13 Apr 2021 16:31:39 +0000 https://www.kilraughtsrpc.com/?p=1530 At the Session Meeting of 7th April it was agreed to aim at resuming our evening services at the beginning of May. Unless anything happens to make us change our plans, we hope that on the 2nd of May there will be morning and evening services held at Kilraughts. Our hope is also that the pre-communion service will be able to go ahead at 12 noon on 9th May and then on 16th May we hope to have our communion service at 12 noon and our thanksgiving service at 7.30pm.

It has been encouraging to see several people returning to worship in recent weeks who had not been able to be present for a while and we hope that others will be able to do so in the near future also. For those who are not able to attend, the services will be uploaded to the church website immediately after they conclude, and CD recordings will be made available to those who cannot access the website.

Our services will continue to be held in our church hall with the seating arranged in accordance with 2m social distancing. Face coverings are to be worn while indoors. The services will be relayed to the church building, where downstairs and upstairs seating is available with plenty of room for social distancing,

Meeting Plans until Mar 14th https://kilraughtsrpc.com/meeting-plans-until-mar-14th/ Wed, 17 Feb 2021 16:32:54 +0000 https://kilraughtsrpc.com/?p=1427 Morning worship services resumed on 7th February. On that occasion the visiting preacher was Rev. Blair McFarland. Rev. David Fallows was preaching in Enniskillen. There was no evening service at Kilraughts. Instead the service was pre-recorded on Fri 5th and made available on the church website. CD recordings of the evening service were distributed on Sat 6th and CD recordings of the morning service were distributed on Mon 8th.

The same pattern was followed on 14th February, but with Rev. David Fallows leading the morning service and the pre-recorded evening service. Session met on Wed 10th Feb and agreed to continue with this arrangement until 14th March. Morning services are due to be held in the church hall on Feb 21st and 28th and March 7th and 14th. The evening services are due to be pre-recorded on Friday nights. Services will be made available on the church website and on CD.

It was also agreed that midweek meetings would alternate between an online prayer time one week and a gathering in the church hall the other week. Session is due to meet again on Wed 10th March. Meeting arrangements will be reviewed again at that meeting and announced on March 14th.

No church meetings till Feb 7th https://kilraughtsrpc.com/no-church-meetings-till-feb-7th/ Thu, 14 Jan 2021 15:27:43 +0000 https://kilraughtsrpc.com/?p=1367 At a Session Meeting in the church hall on Wed 13th January, it was agreed that there would be no church services or other meetings held during the remaining time of the present six week lockdown, due to end on Feb 6th. Instead there will be service recordings made on Friday evenings and these will be uploaded to the church website sermons section to be available on the Lord’s Days of 17th, 24th and 31st January. For those who do not have access to the church website, CD recordings will be distributed on Saturdays 16th, 23rd and 30th.

This decision has been made in light of the high incidence rate of Covid-19, the extreme pressures that our health service is under, the request of the Stormont Executive for churches to go to online services for the remainder of the present lockdown and to seek to do what we can to minimise the loss of human life. It is our hope to be able to resume our services on 7th February. If that should prove not to be feasible, updated information will be posted nearer the time.

Rev. David Fallows
